It's nice to see students who aren't just making pretty pictures, but who have an intuitive sense for how things are, and can demonstrate an ability to understand a subject, then find and draw together a great deal of raw data, distill it, and communicate highly complex information in such a way that the average reader can understand it and begin to ask meaningful questions. I look forward to seeing more work like this.
As for AI use. My suggestion to professors and teachers at this level is to up the challenge. Set assignments that test their AI skills. As well as R skills. Tougher questions and higher result standards. Papers written by students. So you know they understand what they’re doing.
